Unified theory of reversible target reactions

چکیده
We discuss two fundamental reversible diffusion influenced reactions: ~i! A1B C and ~ii! A 1B C1D. In the pseudo-unimolecular case, we prove that reaction ~i! is a special case of ~ii!, which thus constitutes a unified reversible problem of multiparticle kinetics. For static A and C ~the ‘‘target’’ limit!, we suggest to treat this problem as follows. First we generalize the Smoluchowski theory to reaction ~ii!. In Laplace space, we combine this with a power-law theory, determining the combination coefficient so that the unified theory reduces correctly in all known limits. We also show how to rewrite it in the time domain, with the generalized Smoluchowski theory as the leading term. Comparison with Brownian simulations shows near perfect agreement for both versions of our theory under all conditions. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1603717#

Influence of diffusion on the kinetics of excited-state association--dissociation reactions: comparison of theory and simulation.
Several recent theories of the kinetics of diffusion influenced excited-state association--dissociation reactions are tested against accurate Brownian dynamics simulation results for a wide range of parameters. The theories include the relaxation time approximation (RTA), multiparticle kernel decoupling approximations and the so-called kinetic theory. In the irreversible limit, none of these th...
متن کاملDiffusion-influenced excited-state reversible transfer reactions, A*+BrC*+D, with two different lifetimes: Theories and simulations
We report accurate Brownian simulation results for the kinetics of the pseudo-first-order diffusion-influenced excited-state reversible transfer reaction A*+B C*+D with two different lifetimes using two different propagation algorithms. The results are used to test approximate solutions for this many-particle problem. Available theories fail when one of the two reactions or decay rate constants...
متن کاملUnified path integral approach to theories of diffusion-influenced reactions.
Building on mathematical similarities between quantum mechanics and theories of diffusion-influenced reactions, we develop a general approach for computational modeling of diffusion-influenced reactions that is capable of capturing not only the classical Smoluchowski picture but also alternative theories, as is here exemplified by a volume reactivity model. In particular, we prove the path deco...
متن کاملModeling of Reversible Chain Transfer Catalyzed Polymerization by Moment Equations Method
A moment equations method was performed to study the Reversible chain Transfer Catalyzed Polymerization (RTCP) of styrene in 80°C. To do this, a kinetic scheme containing conventional free radical polymerization reactions and equilibrium reactions of RTCP was assumed. After obtaining mass balance equations, three moment equations were defined for free and dormant radicals and dead chains. M...
متن کاملOn the buckling analysis of functionally graded sandwich beams using a unified beam theory
In this paper, a unified beam theory is developed and applied to study the buckling response of two types of functionally graded sandwich beams. In the first type (Type A), the sandwich beam has a hardcore whereas in the second type (Type B), the sandwich beam has a softcore. In both the type of beams, face sheets are made up of functionally graded material. The material properties of face shee...
